THE QUARTER SYSTEM

The ACADC Institute College
of Addiction Counselor Training & Certification, operates on the quarter system for classroom courses. Each quarter of the academic year is ten weeks in length with the Summer Quarter being nine weeks long. The unit of credit is the quarter hour and, in general, each quarter hour of credit represents 10 hours of classroom contact, or distance learning preparation time based on a 50-minute contact hour. Class contact time is adjusted to ensure compliance with the standard.

The Distance Learning degree programs at all levels (Associate of Ministry through Doctorate) are self paced allowing the student to work as slow or as fast paced as they need to in order to satisfactorily complete the assignments.  The content, assignments, qualifications, examinations, thesis and dissertation requirements for completion are identical to that which is used in the classroom operating on the quarter system.

COUNSELOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS IN THE COLLEGE OF ADDICTION COUNSELOR TRAINING & CERTIFICATION

CSAC I Certification – Requires a passing score of 75% on the CSAC I Intrance inventory exam.  An optional preparation course of 20 hours of classroom study or distance learning preparation is also available as an option and is equivalent to 2 quarter units of credit.

CSAC II Certification – Requires 160 hours of field experience under the direct supervision of a qualified drug, alcohol, and addiction counselor, recovery pastor, or minister experienced in addiction counseling.  Credit is only given on the 160 hours of direct supervision which  equals 16 quarter units.
