FINAL REGULATIONS GO WELL FOR US!
May 21, 2005
May 19, 2005 - For years we have been hearing about the discussions that have taken place between the older secular certification organizations wondering about what the final outcome would be and how it would effect Biblical Christians. Often times, along the way, there have been suggestions made for regulations and legislation that would effectively cut Christian Professionals, who are aware of the deceptions of humanism and believe in the sufficiency of scripture, out of the professional and public arena. Every year, there still are continued efforts to pass legislation that would limit Christian counseling by allowing it to take place only behind the confines Church walls. But the good news for us today is that somebody has been watching out for us and God has been good to us. As of now, under the new regulations, in the State of California, every certification organization can openly teach professional Biblical counseling without being told that they can not use scripture. So long as we choose scripture that speaks to the core competencies outlined in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Technical Assistance Publication 21, no one can legally or morally fault us. Leaning upon the sufficiency of scripture, good common sense, and remaining respectful of the well-defined regulatory mandates (so long as they don't oppose Scripture, which at present they do not do), we are free to train biblically to become certified professionals. In this month’s issue we want to talk about how God is moving and raising up institutes not only in California but on the east coast and Canada as well. ACADC INSTITUTE, WASHINGTON, D.C. Rev. Dr. C. Phillip Johnson, Ph.D., Director of the Johnson Center and the pastor of a local church in Washington, D.C., has joined our association and will be the administrator of our Washington, D.C. ACADC Institute. Dr. Johnson is a pastor and a psychologist who understands the true psychology that is effective to set people free from their addictions and bondages, is not found in the conflicting theories of man, but in God’s inspired Word. Dr. Johnson will also be our dissertation advisor to all students who are working on a doctorate through our institute. ACADC INSTITUTE, CITY OF ORANGE & HUNTINGTON BEACH Rev. Robert Tucker, M.A., CDAAC who has served this year as vice president of ACADC, has begun his first institute in the city of Orange in Orange County. This class takes place from 3 to 6 every Saturday at Zion Christian Center. He will also be starting a second institute in Huntington Beach. The building in which the class will be taught has already been secured and final negotiations are taking place. Not only will Pastor Tucker be teaching courses to counselors at these sites, but he will be doing counseling through these sites as well while raising up a cadre of equipped and qualified counselors who go through his training program. ACADC INSTITUTE, CANADA Coriennia Doering-Caswell, The administrator of ACADC CANADA in Saskatchewan is going through her wine press in great style. It so often seems to be that those people who God uses to be squeezed by the more powerful spiritual adversaries, God uses for the more powerful work to further HIS Kingdom on earth. Coriennia has been having her bouts with her province’s authoritarian (not authoritative) rulers and modern day Pharisees and legalists who do not have the spiritual discernment to have a clue about God’s purpose and calling upon her life. They do not know God because in their arrogance they think they are HIM. But especially they do not know that God put the same spirit in her that the prophet Jeremiah had. It burned in his very bones like a consuming fire that could not be extinguished no matter how many times those powerful people motivated by powers, principalities and rulers of darkess in high places tried to destroy him and his reputation. Gods word, which does not come back void, made it’s mark in the land. We will see God, through the faithful and longsuffering obedience of HIS maidservant Coriennia bear much fruit in a land that needs her ministry desperately. Please keep her in your prayers. ACADC INSTITUTE SAN DIEGO Rev. James Profit, MFC, CSACI the administrator of the ACADC Institute San Diego is our first institute to graduate Marriage & Family Counselors and certify them with the professional MFC designation which allows them to practice marriage & family counseling under the authority of the Association of Christian Alcohol & Drug Counselors.
